2005 HOF Debra Odum #33

Debra Odum

Debra Odum was inducted into the THPA Hall of Fame in 2007 becoming the 33rd Member to be inducted.

There is little argument that Debra Odum is the most dominant Texas Women's Horseshoe Pitcher of our day, and perhaps the greatest of all time. Even on the World scene, she ranks among the best there is, and may indeed be the World Champion one day. She is presently ranked sixth in the World, and it is noteworthy that she has beaten everyone who is ranked above her.

Debra Odum is a six-time Texas State Champion, which ties her with Hall of Famer Mary Ann Kramr for second place on the all-time list behind Hall of Famer Jerry Babb. A foot injury prevented Odum from possibly winning an additional State Title in 2005, and more than likely she will once again repeat as State Champion in the future. If that is the case, she will move into sole possession of second place in total career State Championships.

In her six State Titles, Odum has compiled an incredible won-lost record of 42-1, and has pitched above the 60% mark in all of her title victories. In 2006, she won the State Championship with a career high 72.95% ringer average, which is now the all-time record, eclipsing Mary Ann Kramr's previous high mark of 72.70%.

Her amazing string of State Victories came to a shocking end in 2007, when she fell victim to Cathy Richards - the former 1999 Champion, from whom Odum won her first title in 2000. Nevertheless, even in defeat she still managed an impressive 6-1 record, and had the highest ringer average in the Championship Class at 70.47%.

Barring some unforeseen occurrence, Debra Ann Odum will likely own every record in the book when she finally hangs up her horseshoes.
