2008 HOF Gene Meyer #34

Gene Meyer

Gene Meyer was inducted into the THPA Hall of Fame in 2008 becoming the 34th Member to be inducted.

Gene joined the Austin Ringers Horseshoe club in 1986. He not only was instrumental in the building of the pits in Austin, he helped to maintain them for that club, he also served as their Tournament Director.

He has been a member of the Austin, Bastrop and Waco clubs. He helped build and maintain the pits in Bastrop and as a member of the Waco club he would drive over 200 miles to attend work days.

Gene has been a class "A" pitcher since 1990. He was selected as a recipient of the Charlie Posey Sportsmanship Award and from 2003 to 2006 he served as THPA Hall of Fame Chairman.

Gene's love for our sport is well known and he has recruited numerous members for the THPA while playing at country tournaments and festivals around Texas. If records were kept about wins at country tournaments, he and his traveling partner Tommy Valenta would be World Champs.

Always willing to give help and pitching tips to anyone who asked, Gene has been an asset to the THPA since joining and is most deserving to be a member of the THPA Hall of Fame.
