Robert Smith

(No Picture)

Robert Smith was inducted into the THPA Hall of Fame in 2008 becoming the 36th Member to be inducted.

Robert has been a member of the THPA for many years. He started pitching and then took a brief break coming back to be an active member for over 9 years. He was an avid supporter of the sport and has been very instrumental in promoting horseshoes throughout the state of Texas.

No one has ever been able to promote horseshoe pitching and THPA better than Robert. He took over the duties as THPA Web Master in 2005. He not only created an appealing site, he created a site that advanced the way THPA officers and members could communicate with one another. This did not stop with Texas pitchers; pitchers throughout the United States visited and communicated through the web site. He created a way to simplify sign up for tournaments, payment of dues and entry fees, posting of schedules and results, and getting the news out to the pitchers as quickly as possible. He made our web site the envy of all State Charters in NHPA. We all became very dependent on the website.

Robert spent untold hours "tweaking" the site to make it better for all to enjoy. His objective was to promote THPA, horseshoe pitching, our history as an organization, and most of all to recognize as many of our pitchers as possible.

Robert was always encouraging pitchers at tournaments and was quick to notice if someone had a great game. Not only was he a positive influence at tournaments, in his short time as Web Master, Robert has had one of the greatest positive effects on our members and THPA.
