2021 HOF Jeff Finke #49

Jeff Finke

Jeff Finke was inducted into the THPA Hall of Fame in 2021 becoming the 49th Member to be inducted.

In 1994, Jeff Finke joined the THPA at the age of 19. His first Tournament was the Joe Sullins Classic where he won his Class with a 12.5% Ringer Average. 1995 was Jeff’s first full year of pitching and was concluded by winning a THPA Class Championship in East Bernard with an average of 40%.

It is very impressive that Jeff is not only a Championship Competitor, but also a tremendous Advocate for our Sport of Horseshoes. Here are some of the things Jeff Finke has done to support the Bryan Horseshoe Club as well as the THPA & NHPA Organizations:

  • Jeff joined the Bryan Horseshoe Club in 2002 and became President in 2004. He also served the Club as Tournament Director & League Director between 2002 & 2009. In 2010, he left the Bryan Club to join the East Bernard Club.

  • In 2011, Jeff came back to the Bryan Club which had dissolved. Working with Todd Hannath, they restarted the Bryan Club, renaming it to what we now know as the South Central Horseshoe Club. Jeff served as President of the South Central Horseshoe Club from 2011 through 2016. Then in 2018, Jeff once again became the Club President and currently holds that position. Besides serving as Club President, he has additionally served as Tournament Director & League Director, oftentimes holding multiple positions at the same time. Under Jeff’s Leadership, the South Central Horseshoe Club now hosts at least 2 or 3 THPA Tournaments per year plus a Pro-Tour Event. The South Central Horseshoe Club hosted the Texas State Doubles Championships in 2015 & the Texas State Singles Championships in 2016.   Currently Jeff is working with the City of Bryan to hopefully bring another NHPA World Tournament to Texas in 2024. Jeff has also served as Delegate for the NHPA Convention at the World Horseshoe Tournament.

Besides all of Jeff’s work supporting our Sport of Horseshoe Pitching, Jeff is a Championship Horseshoe Pitcher. Here are Jeff’s Major Achievements.

  • Although not a THPA or NHPA Event, Jeff is a 5 time Go Texan Grand Champion. This Event is held annually at the Houston Livestock & Rodeo & attracts top Pitchers.

  • Jeff was a good horseshoe pitcher from the time he joined the THPA in 1995. However, in 2002 something changed in his pitching performance and his Ringer Percentage jumped past the 50% mark. That year Jeff made his first appearance in the Championship Class at the Texas State Singles Championships held in Mineola. Jeff has remained in the State Singles Championship Class every year since with this year being his 20th consecutive appearance.

  • Jeff Finke has won the Texas State Singles Championships 3 times - 2017, 2019, & 2020. Jeff won the Texas State Doubles Championship with partner Chris Paul in 2012.

In 2018, Jeff narrowly missed the Championship Class in Florence, SC for a 2nd time. At the 2019 World Tournament  in Wichita Falls, TX Jeff qualified 15th for the Men’s Championship Finals.
