Art Ullom
Art Ullom was inducted into the THPA Hall of Fame in 2022 becoming the 50th Member to be inducted.
Art joined the THPA in the 1970’s and has been an incredible asset to our Organization throughout his Membership. In 1975, he founded the Grapeland Open Shoe Club and hosted may large & successful Tournaments there until its closure. In recent years, he has served as the THPA as 5th Vice President, both as Editor and Webmaster. As our current Webmaster, Art completely redesigned our THPA Website making it both cleaner & much more User-Friendly. He is constantly on the search for ways to improve our Online Experience.
In addition, Art is also an accomplished Horseshoe Pitcher. Throughout the 1970’s he qualified for the Men’s Championship Division at the Texas State Singles many times. Following a heart transplant in 2019, Art moved to the Elder’s Division where he has competed in Class A in numerous tournaments. Art is a 4-Time Texas State Singles Class Champion winning in 1974, 1997, 2015, & 2019. He also won the Class G-2 Championship at the 1999 World Tournament held in Greenville, OH.
Art’s longtime Membership and Service to the THPA exemplifies his passion for the Sport of Horseshoe Pitching and his Dedication to those who play the Game. He is deserving of his acceptance into the THPA Hall of Fame.
